Nissan Key Fob
Purpose
The objective of this project was to design and model a Nissan key fob using SolidWorks, utilizing advanced features such as extrudes, revolves, sweeps, and lofts. The aim was to create a detailed, functional, and manufacturable key fob.
Overview
The project began with initial sketches from the top and side views to outline the key fob's shape. The main body was created using top plane sketches with splines, followed by extruding the sketch. Detailed features were added, including the side profile, button surround, and LED hole. The key fob cover was then created by extruding a mid-plane sketch, cutting the side profile, and filleting edges. The cover was hollowed out using the shell feature, and final details such as cutting the logo, adding a lanyard hole, and an LED dome were incorporated. The final assembly involved splitting the cover, adding tongue and groove features for secure fitting, and applying appearance and finish.
Results
The project demonstrated the effective use of SolidWorks features to create a detailed and functional key fob model. The process involved strategic planning, precise sketching, and careful feature application, resulting in a realistic and manufacturable design. The final key fob model met all design criteria, showcasing advanced SolidWorks capabilities and best practices in product design.
