LEGO Helicopter

Purpose

The aim of this project was to design a functional and aesthetically pleasing LEGO helicopter using SolidWorks. The goal was to create detailed individual parts, accurately assemble them, and produce comprehensive technical drawings along with a Bill of Materials (BOM) to showcase the final design.

Overview

The project began with conceptualizing and planning, including developing initial design sketches and planning the workflow. Individual parts such as the fuselage base, beams, axles, gears, and rotors were modeled in SolidWorks, ensuring compatibility with LEGO standards. The assembly process involved constructing the fuselage, tail section, main body, and cockpit, followed by attaching the upper fuselage and main rotor for balance and functionality. The tail rotor and skids were designed for stability. The full assembly integrated all sections cohesively, with mechanical mates added in SolidWorks to simulate real-world movement. Finally, comprehensive drawings and a BOM were produced, detailing all parts and specifications.

Results

The project resulted in a fully designed LEGO helicopter that met all design criteria. Detailed parts and assemblies were accurately created and integrated, with mechanical mates ensuring realistic movement. The comprehensive drawings and BOM provided a clear and precise guide for building the helicopter. The final design showcased not only the functional aspects of the helicopter but also its aesthetic appeal and structural integrity, demonstrating technical expertise and attention to detail.
